What
is self and other?
2PM new start for web pages to show the whole process as fitting together the fragments like a jigsaw puzzle where people do not have an orientation to a "whole picture" so I will give some short introduction sentence into various views and parts, where they can study the whole or beginning as they wish. I also see this like my solitaire: seeing all the cards at once, but how to put them in order and each situation produces a different shuffle of this wholeness. Thus each culture and religion and discipline is a different arrangement and start card! This is a good representation of a coherent source and the DNA and species: they use the same code as stacks of 4, but get different results! Thus humans create map of map of this process in cards!
Introduction: I started plans for this book in 1958 when I decided that one of the most important and difficult tasks needed for human development was the healing and synergy of the isolation of religion from science. Prior to this time I had little intellectual regard for religion, but due to a personal religious experience of Buddhist enlightenment, I immediately understood what so many other enlightened persons had been talking about for thousands of years. Yet my scientific education and common sense dictated that I do not disregard the findings of science to follow the theories that had been put forth thousands of years ago within many different cultural contexts.
Also, I firmly supported the requirement of the scientific method of completeability and falsifiability. Completeability requires that any “new” discovery or theory be compatible with ALL other established science, and falsifiability requires that new theories / discoveries be stated in a clear and precise manner so that any objections which may be raised can be tested which will prove or disprove the theories. This means that the theories must be put into a language that is accessible to and integrateable with all of science. The usual language is mathematics, but this often makes the theory inaccessible to the “common human”.
I wish to extend this accessibility to all by fully explaining the scientific language and how that language is used to synergize science and religion. I use the metaphor of an artist in some cases using the canvas of religion and the colors of science, and visa-versa in other cases. This means that in some ways ideas that have been with us for thousands of years can be used to organize new ideas of the science of mind that seem to be scattered, and that other ideas of religion are prototypes that can be clarified by science. These ideas can be seen as pioneer attempts in the same direction that science has now gone: that science has accomplished what religion set out to do in understanding ourselves and our reality.
The idea of “God” is a composite structure that contains and overspans many scientific ideas: a meta structure. Thus scientists have tried to prove the “existence” of God, but if they had succeeded, “God” would have been reduced to human and scientific concepts of existence. This would have “wiped out” much of the way personal belief or understanding of “God” functions in life processes. Personal creativity, intuition and the structure of social mind would have been dealt a big blow.
There are now scientific ideas that “existence” itself is self organizing and that so are the neural networks of our brains. Ideas about a holographic universe support a all-knowingness – all-seeingness, and ideas about the big bang support all-powerfulness. The ideas about holographic mind support our need for coherence in order for mind to exist. This need for coherence can be found in our search for rules and laws in science as well as religion. The Judo Christian bible opens with the description of creation that could be applied to the creation of coherence: first there was chaos and then separation of day from night and the 7 cycles of this coherence [7 days] as 7 overlapping levels of holographic mind resulting in “man”. Seeing this creation myth as a prototype of holographic process instead of as an impossible alternative to evolution is the direction I am proceeding regarding other areas.
As for instance the scientific repudiation of unsupported, leap of faith, beliefs. I propose that these beliefs are not about the nature of reality, but become the foundation sources of coherence for building levels of shared mind that result in culture and civilization.
The neural nets of the old brain are like machine language words that put a CPU into a "state". A sentence is a succession of words that does something. Then the neocortex connection is like an assembler or interpretation that can translate into a program for use anytime [to be called up] or directly produce real-time code! This is also the ability in the neocortex to produce machine code directly since the n.nets of the neocortex are like RISC. Thus humans can translate into "emotional - animal" code like loading the instruction set of a Pentium or Mac, but also write "native code" that doesn't "go thru" the older processors and directly connects to IO [action] especially verbal!
Maps of mind: what are they good for. This is a theme of my books and quest. How do maps of holomind help and guide us in understanding music and the arts. How can we re-map mathematics and areas like fractals to understand layers of mind? How do we apply new science like neural nets to understanding old maps of “spirit”? What are the maps of chakras and the I Ching that show how mind and matter emerge from the same procedures and can be mapped as particles and waves!? So now to look at mind as having the same reality as electrons in the structure of reality. I see that particles and location – matter has structures that are only the non-fuzzy aspect of reality, and that electronics are only the tip of a very large iceberg of holomind structure given a mapping in the complete levels of the I Ching.
Another map that just occurred to me is “I GO” where the stones are matter as particles and the remaining space as well as the occupied “locations” is the mind. This implies that the levels of mind are “played” on many boards of different size! This is as-if the orbitals are different size boards in intersecting dimensions! Thus any location can be a location of matter only when it is the coherent intersection of many dimensions which gives it the quantum structure as a coherent whole number!
Humans no longer need biological maps with
built-in coherence to design New Mind. We can recognize the freedom to connect
stable principles that have been pioneered by science. TV, Cars, Computers and
many other “things” are really spiritual models for designing Mind that
connects to all viewpoints with peace and gentleness and flexibility.
This connection to our design of external
"things" as maps of our modern holomind introduces a new understanding
of human nature and Mind based on new ideas in science that have been prefigured
in diverse spiritual traditions, Arts and Music including scientific
explanations of One Mind, Creativity, Freedom, and Peace. There is a gap
between our consciousness of the "world out there" and our mind inside
which keeps us from understanding the unity of external and internal
consciousness / Reality. I have had personal experiences of this unity, so I
know what this is about and can thus recognize others who have written about it
for thousands of years. Yet it is much easier for everyone to recognize the gap
and unity in our modern world.
This
gap results in our ignoring our minds products as maps of mind. This applies to
computers and their programs, and now to web pages and their design. Humans can
now design their own individual mind just as a programmer or company creates a
product. We accepted the design as if it came from some outside source: heredity
or environment. Modern mathematics of neural networks prove that it comes from
within as self organization. We assemble and program using a basic mental
machinery of DNA, but because our DNA is so almost identical to our Ape
ancestors, this doesn’t explain the great diversity of language, culture and
personalities of humans.
Human
hardware: we know that if we program a modern computer with the code for the
first computer hardware of the 1960s, we will be very constricted by
limitations. In the same way, if we design our mind based on what we knew 500
years ago or 2,500 years ago, we will follow limitations that resulted in
religious and cultural wars. We will be programming for the reptilian brain
hardware of fight or flight and the mammal hardware of emotion that results in
belief systems of emotional attachment and aversion and single viewpoints
resulting from over generalization or Universal belief systems that discard
detail as with the reductionist paradigm.
Modern
science has uncovered the brain hardware that created all those traditional
designs of Mind: it is the neocortex, which is spacious, free and peaceful
compared to the animal and reptilian brain. Yet we have learned from the old
designs that holomind is based on coherent structures, just as computer code
must fit together within the same programming language. We see the success of
Microsoft Windows which provides a coherence for users and designers alike.
Our
thinking processes are the designer and programmer. We want to use these designs
in an “automatic” integrated way of our flow of life. When we drive our cars
we cannot stop and think about every decision. We must have programs that are
available and work instantly. That means that our new programs must interface
with the old hardware of the mammal and reptilian brain.
So
one of the ways of design is to use and change the programs that are already in
place. So how do we recognize which is what? What events result in sensation of
the reptilian brain or emotion of the mammal? Are these sensations / emotions
really the thought forms of those brains, and we really do not recognize the
well run programs like walking, eating and digesting, sleeping and connecting
unless there is error?
We
call these automatic programs “instinct” as if they cannot be accessed or
changed, yet in many areas of modern psychology [like NLP] we find we can access
and change! And this is only the beginning!
Modern
Mathematics has demonstrated that the mind uses fuzzy
Logic or Fuzzy Thinking in its operations. Thus this implies that
"rational mind" grew out of the need for coherence to build the mind
that was designed for agriculture.

Title for my book: synergy of the maps of Mind.
Maybe the sources of coherence for holomind are “exterior” to the human?! This is a holostructure as is present for matter, where the orbitals do not depend on the individual atoms: each individual atom of carbon cannot determine its structure. Thus the idea of God as the source which is the canvas on which we paint individual mind! When we allow mind to resonate with these sources of coherence, we gain unity and power.
The purpose of writing this book is to demonstrate that there is a solid modern scientific foundation that supports the traditional intuitive maps of human nature as peaceful, gentle, noble, and creative. Also that the deep perceptions of human mind transcend the ordinary limits of the material world which indicate [prove?] to me that “matter” is a subset of “Mind”! My hope is that this material can set the stage for a greater world unity and comprehension of the validity of the inner structures of the traditions of all human cultures. This does not mean that the violence and moves toward exclusivity are supported, but even these actions can be more fully understood beyond a scientific pointing to our connection with our inner animal nature [including Lion and Snake] so as to not continue to repeat the same “Fate”. So along with the emergence of this new Wisdom must also emerge new skillfulness.
The new maps of human mind as transcendental to material science treat the spiritual traditions on an equal footing with pioneer scientific discoveries that later were proved to be incomplete. Thus I have given myself permission to propose how these spiritual traditions can be completed using the new mapping abilities of the science of complexity. For instance, I do not discard Astrology, but see it as a first attempt to describe the emergence of many levels of holographic mind that seemed to operate outside the control of though and mind. I ascribe the cosmos as sources of coherence needed to create holographic mind just as a laser is the source of coherence needed to create a physical hologram. But I do not restrict myself to the cosmos as the only source of coherence, or see this as an inescapable scientific cause / effect structure. I see that the cosmos was available and put into use by the evolution of life on earth.
Other maps have emerged that are pioneer works such as the I Ching, the Indian Chakra system and the mystical traditions of the Kaballah which resulted in the Tarot cards. These are different incomplete viewpoints of the same internal structures, which incompleteness can be clearly understood by the multiple viewpoints available within a physical hologram. Beyond that, I propose that mind is a recursive holographic process resulting in what can now be illustrated by the science of fractal dimensions. This means that if consciousness has holographic structures, then self consciousness is structured as holograms of holograms which result in the worlds of consciousness being divided into phase spaces. Examples are the time and key signatures of music, the alphabets of language, and “social hierarchies [casts]” of human society to mention a few.
Looking at the neocortex as a maper.
The focus of the observer being in a phase space is seen as sets of plans and objectives / goals. These can be mistaken for accomplishments or identity. [quantum psychology]
This is where both observer and focus use the same coherence at different orientations. I will explore the similarity or identity with DNA and RNA as being one of the primary levels of holomind dyads that create life. These dyads are what we refer to as consciousness as an interrelationship of 2 processes: one as holographic code and the next as processing that code in its own phase space!
Materialist position regarding self and consciousness is that we are the sum of our information. My position is that we are information generators and if we are found in other conditions we would produce different information.
I see consciousness as "Seeing" within the neocortex as if it was a landscape of language and in the 3rd dimension of where and how the language is plugged into our older brain.
5. N.nets between layers are adaptive resonant: [constructive / destructive resonance] adaptive resonance and tradition. Energy surfaces and minima. Solution states and heating / shaking by size of shake by levels of resolution and planets! Never ending looking for solutions.
Not only will my work show how other structures emerge, but also how to reinterperit my work in their terms: the monkey brain is environmental schema from which language emerged.
Holomind means holo-process: complete maps of music or language at each step. The definition of step is a phrase or measure or single note or a paragraph – sentence or single word. The next word or note can be anything which is the property of a hologram which has all information or choices present at each site – location. In this case it is a complete space available at each moment, not dependant on stimulus response or any causality. Determined processes are like a focused picture where only one choice is available at each location. In biological systems this freedom is clearly available within a phase space as the canvass which is written – painted on.
Maps of mind that are already here: Cards, religion, music, games, civil governments, and now, cars. Especially my map of adult mind as driving in reverse and thus seeing the “past” as if the past is the main thing that lets us navigate and the future is in a mirror: reversed and only available to a psychic like being able to read words backwards.
Coherent sources are the canvas upon which self organization takes place. That is why the actions of supervisors as example is more effective than “instructions” or verbal rules. This was illustrated by the effect Wagner had on other 19th century artists: he was not an influence but pioneered working [self organizing] using a new inner source of coherence from his older mid-brain that is present in all humans. Thus humans and all life forms find coherent structure within the present biosphere ecology: the particular self organization as behavior is unique, but is available to conscious awareness as understanding – comprehension because of a shared coherent source upon which the behavior is written like the Musical melody within a key signature and the rhythm within the “beat” and time signature.
So how does this translate into neural network behavior? I look for larger repeated structures and self similar smaller structures that connect with the larger to form a code similar to AM and FM structures where the coherent larger structure is the carrier “wave”. Thus within the solar system, planet pairs act as coherent source and the particular position as code.
Within the physical hologram which is only used to “remember” a single set of information [picture], a single coherent source is used, but within biological system, the need is for organization of smaller units like single cells into larger units like organs, so multiple, usually pairs, sources of coherence are used. This may be why such behavior has not been looked for within reductionist science that is looking for “single” explanations / causes.
How will this work with CAs? Fractals already are half way there, but need to use different self similar shapes – procedures at each discrete level where each “higher” level becomes the coherence for the next level?
“Know yourself” is given by many cultures as one focus for development of life skills, yet what if the “self” does not exist as a separate entity of reality. This is the implication of DNA analysis of the human species within the context human’s nearest DNA neighbors. This identity of primary structure is also the reality of holographic mind seen within multiple phase spaces. Individual differences arise from the distribution of coherent sources that “write” the code of mind on a single shared human structure. As if every human had an internal clock with 7 arms each of which has chaotic distribution of start states. Thus some individuals can and will share some, but not all, start states. Another metaphor is music where each individual has 7 different instruments playing melodies in different keys. Or as if we all play solitaire with the same deck of cards, with each individual starting with a different shuffle or from a different start point within the same shuffle where this identity of shuffle allows cultural uniformity and stability so that each culture would have a different shuffle. This metaphor points to cultural skills and procedures having a stable context for development where each “move” within the “game” that results in a [un] desirable outcome can be shared with all members of the culture to be repeated – avoided, thus resulting in a skills knowledge base.
From this point on each individual from all three metaphors is self organizing, but able to use the skills knowledge base for self supervision.
The reptilian brain is the seat of repetition: which is coherent data in – rules out. This is where all or nothing behaviour structures began and are transformed into fuzzy logic of emotion and creative logic of neocortex. [where creative means to create a coherence out of pieces of the rest of holomind]. Thus the reptilian is the basis of Parent and the emotion of child!
The ego can be seen as a process of self consciousness that uses a starting point [like a sign] to arrange coherence in One Mindedness. Like using cards in solitaire other than ace for start.
Does holographic mind save actions and their consequences so they can be undone?
Does
putting metaphysical systems such as Astrology and Tarot card reading into
scientific language point to the reality of how the layer of holomind called
“personality” or “Self” was designed. Is this design only a stage of
development that allowed diversity in human culture? Have humans grown out of
that stage? If there is anything to Astrology, then it can be modernized to show
how the cosmos can be a source of coherence for the design of holomind at all
levels. That is just what I have done: design new maps of the "Chart"
for the neocortex, the reptilian brain of organ systems studied by TCM as well
as expanding traditional Astrology to include the human female. I show how pairs
of planets are coherent sources for consciousness that have been pointed to in
all cultures as graphic diagrams. Before 1966 I was among the debunkers of any
Astrology, but then suddenly during a study session, I had an awakening to a
connection between the mind and the cosmos. So from that basic premise I began
to study traditional Astrology. But I soon saw that it had only a small
application to the types of behavior that humans have come to label
"Fate" or "Karma". This lead to my re-invention of
synergetic Astrology.</P>';
Categorization is the storage of code with a coherent source in a phase space. Consciousness is looking at Data-in thru the coherence of Self/World [self = Yang, world = Yin of a single wave structure]. Reading cards is reading the holo-code of coherent place stacks just like understanding which note in a melody belongs “where” in the key signature, where key is the coherent source as the underlying consciousness.
How do I graph and visualize and animate this?
So a deck of cards is like 4 coherent sources and the stacks in a solitaire game is the phase space of consciousness. In reading the cards each stack has a different life meaning and the cards that are next to each other have a meaning. In music the stacks would be like melody, rhythm, harmony, instrumental sound, and phrase and structure like march or symphony etc..
Suffering is accumulated by ignoring hurts and not being able to resolve or knowing how to resolve. So we use sugar to function in spite of pain and to ignore pain. The solution is non-attachment and peace! Another kind of sugar is an activity that is already coherent –won –lined up: like [for me] solitaire or music, but not writing.
Maps show how to get from one place to another: with being human the maps are from what we [how humans] designed mind given the needs of first tribal – hunter human to agricultural human to new maps that have as much room as the universe coming from a single planet earth!
New as TV is new over radio!
NEW is a property of self organizing holomind, thus not just a description of my writings. Improvisation is built into Mind/Matter!
All levels of consciousness include matter as a part of mind! Holomind means that all creative processes are present at all levels and locations: this means that self organization emerges everywhere / everywhen embedded within each different level of consciousness. Thus the structure of a particular level is not violated even though it can become organized differently than at other locations. This includes the structures that are time-stable organizations called Matter which can retain their structure.
Thus “NEW” is built into consciousness at different places within the same being!
My “NEW” includes or enfolds traditional maps of mind from religion and science as the new invention of TV included Radio or the “Car” and “Airplane” upgraded previous types of transportation. Thus the “intent” and direction of flow of many religions will be preserved, but much will change. Also science started within an Exclusive – Not logic, but now new fuzzy logic and complexity theory has emerged.
Maps can be process which are like transition diagrams!
Dyads [like Jupiter / Saturn] as family system described by Bradshaw. Thus doing things for the good of the system. This is strong in Qi meridian system of the organs. Then the higher systems tend to shape the lower systems where, for instance, anger repressed for being “good” ends up as accumulation in the liver. This shows how I project good / bad mother / father and end up being upset by the behavior of others.

CREATING
AN IDENTITY OUT OF CONFUSION
In
order to understand the mystified false self, we have to go back to infancy. As
infants, we have no real experience of self separate from our mothering source.
Our self-image is based on our mother's mirroring face. The infant perceives the
world through the mother's eyes. The child's self is identical with the mother's
sense of the child's self. What happens when the mother fails to provide
affection and approval? Dr. James Masterson, an authority on defeaive
self-formation, writes:
The
child's intense . . . need for affection and approval from his mother to build
ego structure is so absolute and hi.s rage . . . at the deprivation of these
very supplies on the part of his mother so great, that he fears these feelings
may
destroy
her and himself. To deal with his fear, the infant splits the whole object of
his mother into two parts, that is, a good and bad mother.
The
infant does this through a primitive defense called "object split-
ting" (see the figure below). The "bad" mother is not the child's
mother. She is someone
else.
Therefore, the child can direct rage at the mother without deal- ing with the
fear of her leaving. A true sense of self begins to emerge during the
separation-
individuation
stage of development, which occurs during toddlerhood. At this age, children are
walking and enjoy the new sense of mastery

that
locomotion brings. Just as they can now walk away from mother physically,
children develop an image of themselves as an object and come to perceive
themselves as separate from the mothering source. If all goes well, they also
learn that mother is one and the same person in all her moods and appearances.
Children
need to develop this single image of the mother—an image of the mother as both
satisfying (good) and frustrating (bad). Children need at the same time to
develop a whole image of them- selves. In other words, children need to be able
to see the mothering source as both/and and themselves as both/and--both
comfortable and uncomfortable, both good and bad. The technical term for this
ability is "object constancy."
Successful
separation and individuation gives the child the capacity to relate to others
and to themselves as whole persons. This ability is a crucial preparation for
later satisfying interpersonal relationships, both intimate and social. To see
others as whole persons, according to Masterson, means "to see them as both
good and bad, gratifying and frustrating, and to have this relationship persist
despite frustration at the hands of the object (the other person)." YVith
object constancy, the person I love is the same as the person I hate. And I am
the same person whether she approves or disapproves of me. It is a both/and
situation, not an either/or situation. If this development is interrupted--and
in shame-based families it almost always is--the child cannot individuate. The
child also fails
to
develop the capacity to relate to the mother as a whole person. If I am arrested
at the infantile state of object splitting, I see you as all good when you meet
my needs and as all bad when you fail to meet my needs. You are a good person or
a bad person--not one whole person. And I view myself with the same
polarization--as good or bad, all or nothing. Object constancy is a fundamental
achievement of successful separation and individuation. A child who separates
well can evoke a stable and consistent memory image of their mothering source
whether she is there or not. Out of sight is not out of mind. Mystified adults
are often unable to connect very deeply with anyone. Out of sight is out of
mind. I've seen clients who can leave one partner and latch onto another in the
blink of an eye. They can do this because, lacking object constancy, they have
no ability to evoke the image of their lost partner and hence no ability to
grieve. They are cold- hearted.
If
you cannot evoke an image of the person who leaves you and cannot mourn, you
cannot resolve the many issues of separation life presents us with. This amounts
to saying that you cannot grow up. The figures below and on page 94 may help you
get a picture of this very complex theorizing. And while it is a theory,
something very like this happens to many people who exhibit mystified love. They
create two images of their beloved--one is idealized and one is degraded. The
beloved is idealized when they measure up to the person's image of a good lover
(child, parent, partner, friend, etc.). The beloved is judged and degraded when
they do not measure up to the person's image. What is missing in such love is an
image that has both extremes synthesized. The synthesized image is human and
sets up realistic expectations. The polarized image is inhuman and sets up
unrealistic expectations. Failure to achieve separation and individuation and,
therefore, object constancy, has five disastrous consequences for both
self-image and other relationships.

Basis
of Polarization
The
mystified person relates to others as parts rather than wholes, as objects
rather than subjects. This creates an either/or, all or nothing, type, of
thinking.
Mystified relationships cannot tolerate frustration and
fluctuate
widely
according to feelings and needs.
The
mystified person is unable to evoke a sustaining image of another person when
that other person is not present. There is apanicky sense that, when a person
goes away, they will not return.
The
mystified person has a split scene of self. Either good me or bad me. Either
more than human or less than human.
The
mystified person cannot mourn. Thus any object loss or separation is experienced
as a calamity and a substitute object is quickly found.
The
Split Self
The
figure on page 96 shows Stage Five of the mystification process. At the bottom
of the figure you can see a circle with a star. That circle is your true self;
the star it contains is your wonder child. The wonder child, like all natural
organisms, wants what he or she wants and has a natural urge for completion. The
mystification process be- gins so early that the connection with, and urgings
of, the true self become unconscious. Nevertheless, we all have moments when our
true self breaks through. I will call these "soulful" moments. These
breakthroughs
may come in our dreams, in our seemingly irrational behavior, in our rage, in
moments when we act uncharacteristically. When someone says, "That's not
like you!"--that may be a moment when your soul is breaking through. As you
can see from the diagram, the mystified person's self-
system
is composed of two extremes, with the person often going from one to the other.
A dominant pattern of adapting will be selected and owned--usually from the
"good side" polarity of the split self, but its opposite will also be
lurking in the background. One extreme is giving in to the sense of
worthlessness that's at the root of the confusion. The identity that the person
has in this extreme is a negative identity. It says, "l am worthless as I
am," "I am no good," "There is something wrong with
me," or "There is something wrong with my body, my perceptions, my
feelings, my needs, my desires, my thinking, my drives." A false
self-identity trance is developed out of this extreme. The false self might be a
fawning, servile people pleaser, whose core identity is "I'll do anything
to please you." Alternately, the core identity might be "I'm a victim,
see all the things that have happened to me, so please love me" or
"I'm so dumb, stupid, crazy, inept, ugly, fat, rotten, etc., I might as
well give in and be a failure, a
slob, the class dunce, etc." or "I'll rebel against everyone and
everything." These are strategies that give the person a definition, an
identity. "I'm the class failure" is an identity.
I
call such strategies the less-than-human strategies. These strategies have
undeniable payoffs. If I am less than human, no one can expect anything of me.
If I reproach and blame myself all the time, no one else will be able to
reproach or blame me. Being less than human, I can give up all discipline and
responsibility. Above all, I can never fail, because I am already a failure. At
the other extreme are the more-than-human strategies. The identities that flow
from this extreme involve power, control, perfectionism, judgment,
righteousness, and blame. If I am in power, no one can hurt me. If I am perfect,
no one can expose me. If I am in control, no one can catch me off guard. If I am
righteous and saintly, no one can criticize me, and I can criticize, judge, and
blame everyone. These are the "I'm OK, you're not OK" type of
identities.
Only
healthy shame would allow us to be human and whole. As humans we make mistakes,
suffer, need help, bumble along, and know that we are not God. The false self
created to deal with the confusion and disorientation of internalized shame
tries to be more than human and/or less than human. Most mystified people act
out both extremes. They have an all-or-nothing polarization in the center of
their personality. If I can't be all, I'll be nothing. If I can't be
extraordinary,
I'll be a worm. Wolinsky calls these two coexisting extremes "oppositional
trances. "To see how these oppositional trances develop, consider the
following examples. A young child is playing with her mother's makeup. She has
lipstick and powder all over her. Her father shames her for what she is doing.
The little girl's natural desire is to respond by saying: "I want to keep
doing this. I will do it." Her father scares her by threatening to spank
her. The threat thwarts her natural response and triggers confusion. She knows
what she wants and feels, but she cannot risk losing her father's love. So she
may choose to do "anything to please him." This is an effective
choice, especially if her father chronically controls and shames her. In such a
situation first one identity is tried and then another. The identity chosen is
the one that most successfully resolves the confusion. The first response the
child tried was her natural self choice. "I want it my way." This is
everyone's first choice. If that had worked, she would have continued to use it.
As the child was shamed, she developed a trance state that said, "I am
really bad for wanting it my way." The oppositional trance is "I'll do
anything to please you. I'll do it your way." The two identities, "I
am bad" and "I'll do anything to please you'" coexist, each
sitting at one extreme. Their
coexistence creates a state of tension and a power struggle within the person.
To resolve this tension, children quickly learn to project one identity and own
the other. My "I'll do anything to please you, I'll be perfect"
identity is the one I own. I project "I am bad, I want it my way" onto
others--often in scathing criticism. It's easy to spot projection in the child
who innocently protests that "bad Susie" (her imaginary friend) was
the one who spilled the milk. It's a lot harder to spot in ourselves. When we
project our "I am bad, I want it my own way" onto others, we pick up
the slightest hint of self-gratification or selfishness in them. We are often
relentlessly critical of those who seem to be doing exactly what they want to
do. I remember an unmarried woman I counseled who passionately scorned other
single women in her apartment complex for their alleged sexual promiscuity. My
client belonged to a very rigid fundamentalist religion. She was moralistic and
judgmental. Yet she often dreamed of being raped by dozens of men. She dressed
in a way that was modest but seductive. She wore long skirts and tight long-
sleeved blouses that emphasized the roundness of her breasts.
I
remember this well because I was concerned about my sexual feelings about her. I
thought that maybe they were coming from my own sexual issues, so I checked my
perceptions with the female psychiatrist who had referred her to me for
counseling. My psychiatrist colleague also found the woman seductive. This woman
projected her erotic and desiring "I want what I want" self onto other
sexy women and owned her "I'll do anything to please you" self in her
dutiful and moralistic religious behavior. Other people flip-flop between their
oppositional false selves. My "I want it my way (I am bad)" self came
out a lot in my spousal relationship, while I was most often in my "I'd do
anything to please you" self in public.
Family
System Enmeshment Roles
In
the preschool years from ages 3 to 6, a child's developmental task is to form a
first primitive identity. A new family role will be added to the basic sense of
self. When the family is very dysfunctional, the child's choice of roles is
severely narrowed. Remember that the roles are selected to meet the needs of the
system, rather than the individual. They maintain the system's balance at the
expense of the individual's uniqueness and spontaneity. The rigid roles are also
chosen because of the confusion created by the family's enmeshment. In the
dysfunctional family system, roles are often polarized. This isn't surprising,
since the dysfunctional family operates like a whole individual organism. One
child may be rigidly good (behaves according to family rules) and another
rigidly bad (rebel’s and breaks the rules). Each has the polarized opposite
role. The good child wants to be bad some of the time and vice versa. But the
systemic forces keep each one in their rigid role. The important thing to
understand, whatever role you chose, is that it gave you a sense of structure
and definition. With it, you felt like you had some control. The role defined
you, and you took on the boundaries or limits of that role. The role became a
particular trance you lived. Over time you believed that this limited boundary
was who you were. Wolinsky calls this a "thought form limitation."
Your
experience is narrowed by such a thought form or belief about yourself. All of
your feelings, thoughts, wishes, are limited by this chosen trance identity. I
also found that over the years my trance role functioned like an addiction. I
became so completely identified with the roles of Star and Caretaker, I had no
idea how to behave if I was not being the Star or Caretaker. These identities
greatly limited the possibilities of my experience and, therefore, my freedom.
The
Ultimate Mystification
These false identities give us the sense of being clear of the confusion.
The fact is that they really hide the confusion. In essence once the hypnotic
identity trance is formed, we no longer know we are confused. Instead of having
to face and resolve the dilemma--that "I'm most loved when I'm not being
me" or "I don't know who I am"--the false self creates the
ultimate level of mystification. At this level, I either don't know that I don't
know who I am or I think I know who I am, /out I really don't. Are you confused?
Two mystified selves trying to have a relationship and create love are asking
the impossible of themselves. In a mystified love relationship, we have two
people who are not really present, who think they know who they are and who
don't know that they don't know who they are. It's not a pretty picture! After
sitting through twenty-two years of counseling some eight hundred couples, I can
guarantee you that it's mystifying.
STAGE
SIX: THE INTERNALIZED FAMILY
The
mystified state is maintained through the internalized family system. The false
self keeps us bonded. The mystified person has never separated from the family
system. In order to grasp how this bonding works, take the following short quiz.

If
you answered any of these questions yes, you may still be internally bonded to
your primary source figures. The more questions you answered yes, the greater
the attachment. The parental figures live on in us in the form of internalized
voices and governing scenes. The family system also lives on in the internalized
rules that we carry and in the rigid roles we first learned to play in the
family system. As we discussed in Chapter 1, myriads of people have re-created
their original family bondings in their current relationships--not only in their
friendships and spousal relationships, but also in their relationships with God,
self, and the world at large.
This
internalized maintenance of the family system operates as a trance. The trance
governs the person's choices like a pair of glasses with blinders on the side.
Within the self-to-self interpersonal trance the person hears the family
figures' voices, which operate as the beliefs governing most of what the person
thinks and chooses to do.
How is “taking care of children and home” a basic consciousness procedure that becomes an automata where humans plug-in all other “need for being busy”? It seems that procedures lose their original content but retain their structure.
My need to fill time?
Is a wedding ring also a symbol of the woman wrapping the man around her finger? Is that the way it is said or thought of now?
Games – procedures: as a game becomes successful the structure remains above the gap! This means it is not synergized with the rest of or old procedures. This is like science not recognizing that it is a new type of the procedure that emerged as religion. It sees solutions and iteration of itself, but does not see its structure as a solution of the procedure called religion. Thus the game is played [us against them where them is ignorance and us is understanding reality] over and over from within its rules, but ignores that it is a win to just be playing that game: to be “taking care of the children of science” or to be “standing on the backs of giants”! [Newton]
The chicken with its head cut off: operates with its deep structures. this is where humans “push down” and hide stuff like anger, that comes to the surface from this deep place when we “cut off” our … connection? No thought! Implies that thought is sparked by head-cut-off deep hidden stuff!
Simple statements from the neocortex command may appear to academia as “simplistic”: for instance the anthropologist who review my simple intro to religion. So the deeper centers seem to be more sophisticated and complex, because the higher centers divide into more phase space!
Peace and gentleness of the neocortex also does not punish or hurt or upset in a direct way: it is the neocortex connection with the deeper intense brain the does the inner pain!
What is society? Each person in the social life of an individual becomes a map – image within the person that has an separateness: them and me! So the more I know about another or the more complete the map becomes, the more that map participates in my inner process.
The old attitude is that I am separate and different from all those others. The new process is to see these maps as resources and additions to my map: I become “we” that is a synergy of process working together. It is only because I see my map as “real” and separate: not as a part of total coherence and source for me. My map of myself, called “myself” or “I” is no more real and complete than my map of others: this human being that is the home of my consciousness is a work in progress – process, not a group of opinions and labels. I and others are not remote objects. This “I” is only temporary aid or help in dealing with life. So I can utilize and synergize – integrate my maps of others: called learning!
Also I do not need to take others actions and words as “personal”: they belong to the others maps and their inner peace or contradiction. When I see their conflict projected onto “me”, I need to see it as their problem and who they are, not as any reality for me or the world!
Love as altruistic is a human development into a new dimension of community beyond possession of family: my children or wife and who cares about the rest! That family-only is the process of the Star of David and the new development of the cross is of accessibility and diversity. This [cross] is a whole system as is family love, not a set-point: there are many places or locations within process! Like different locations in a piece of music!
The application of rational – analytical thinking, that is attributed to the left brain and “men”, has been and is the primary way of the inner cultural map creating control – supervision. This way listens to input as a problem to be solved. The map is “how do I apply what I learned to what I am hearing?”. This is using the map of culture and civilization with all its traditions as a knowledge base without any self organizing maps that include “subjective” responses that emerge from “within”. The cultural map includes skill – competence that can be applied by a part of the map called “self” or me. The person has a 1 dimensional sequence of actions: not a 3 D set of relationships including “feelings” and inner “needs” that connect in many directions and on many levels.
Teaching music has been [and is] within this 1D map of “put your fingers X” and “move Y”. The 3D map is first let the music itself be the map, then observe where confusion or bewildernment [2nd of 3 poisons in Buddhism] as to more than one direction emerges at once, then allow the performance to finish and only then correct the confusion or “mistakes”. This “wait until the end” is because music is taking place in “biological time” as a process and correction is done with a different part of the brain. This left brain of applying rules and figuring out solutions takes place in no-time: a kind of eternal outside of biology process where “time stands still”. These old traditional approaches to analysis can now be explained: these correction processes take place in the neocortex which is not connected to sensory inputs of sound or movement, but in fact, interacts with the mental centers that process and do response with the sensory world as if it is a dance of life. Dance of brain and world! Maps in the right brain are self organizing process dealing with the structure or shape of the map, whereas the left brain deals with the application of the map as if the map is in control and supervisor of action. The map becomes the ego and the map making becomes the self and the map maker is the “soul” and is above the gap. This means that the map maker cannot make a map of itself
So when this is tried the maper must use maps of lower level processes as if they could point to this highest level. It is a fractal process: like using 1D strings - thread to weave a 2D rug and flat boards to construct a 3D building. We map 3D as a construction of right angles: vertical/horizontal because that is the most logical/rational way, but that is not the way reality constructs itself. Which is in resonance 60/120 degree structures! Tetrahedrons as clarified by Buckminster Fuller!
Is there a coherence to DNA that makes groups want to unite and not to change their belief structures as if the beliefs are the coherent strength that creates mind! For me it creates self or ego! That is why I see no-self when I moved to enlightenment or beyond ego! So I must explore ego – self in society to help enable no-self!
Soap operas have perfected the idea that previews are the main process of drama! Each segment is designed to “trap” the viewer with anticipation of the future – “what’s to come” without direct “straight on” dramatic exposition. It is as if a one hour of prime time drama is stretched into on week!
Narcissism is the mirror within mirror of the levels of consciousness trying to extend over the “Gap”. This is illustrated by my webcam taking a picture which is sent to the VCR [midbrain] and then captured by WinTV which is capturing the image on the highest level but not the image “OF” the highest level, but an image of an image. Thus the source operation the generates the picture is not captured, but the narcissistic reflection of this already fully formed picture – map. This illustrates why the highest level process that calculates the shape and intensity [emotion] of the image is not mapped, only the resulting image is mapped. Thus images of our highest level of the human mind/brain are not directly accessible, only the results as mirrored by the mid – animal brain.
This was illustrated by astrology where the maps of the coherent phase structures that were generating the new mind needed for culture and civilization were projected into animal images [Scorpio Taurus Leo etc.]
This mirror or picture – map within a picture is the same as was labeled “super-ego” or conscience! What I don’t want done to me –picture- I feel inhibited or excluded from doing myself – picture within picture! Is this the operator called “NO”?!? Is this “PIP” [Picture in picture] the basis of inner supervision – control? Is it also “levels of consciousness” and a recursion – fractal?
What is the self – ego? The control of majority of selves that delegates who and when other selves are “turned off” as signals between neural nets as “off” or inhibition. The word “inhibition” is not the scientific word which is actually to not accept signals. This is like moving the coherent source 180 degrees. So maybe the control process – mechanism is the ability to move the phase start!? Is this the process of creation of coherence” inhibition that acts like a shift of phase start. The other selves are self organizing so they cannot be “controlled”, but they can be unified. The maps or records of others are internalized as “learned behavior” that is continued to be applied as if the person is doing it to me. I [central coherence] can grow and progress – develop those others that “live in me” [called parents by TA] be completion: see how I dealt with them and what I did, not how they reacted.
These “others” are pushed away on a phase time line to become “midnight nightmares” and criticism of others.
The use of self organization is the only process available to infants, so the enlightenment and awakening process is a renewal of self organization, and thus appears as infant or being like a little child!
Thus consciousness and recognition is a phase fit with each “self”! the organization of this phase space is from the “Sun sign” as a desire or attachment to “being good and bright” or to life’s goals as where the ego wants to go as progress and path. This is where all religions and modern psychologies miss the inner process.
I see or propose that the inner process is to love and appreciate oneself, thus uniting all selves in inner joy and delight.
These other selves can be ignored by concentration which looks like “self asleep” [of Gurgieff] which is the one mind map of culture. Thus “asleep” to inner realities is the result of being a cultural man!
The head of the Hindu temple association stated that they believe there is one God, but like a tree with many branches. This is the “3D tree logic” that all humans share with remote genetic ancestors.
The work of Dinesh D’Souza [ddsouza@aei.org] may be a match. One new insight he remarked about was that modern culture are taking their maps of being human from the self within instead of from outside authority of religion or other. This was traced back to the start of American culture, whereas I see its full start with modern “popular” rock and other music which developed a personal space to respond to the music from within. This also resonates with “personal” computers and the internet where anyone and everyone can become a programmer or map maker of what is useful – meaningful.
Is the childhood saying “I’m rubber, your glue: the bad things you say [all things a person thinks and evaluates] bounce off me and stick to you!”. This is the emergence of the understanding that much of our “heated” or intense feelings are things that are “stuck to us” and we blame others to try to remove them and feel better about ourselves?!. They may not be of the same logical thread, but resonate with our “stuck” feelings.
The cultural maps that are interiorized are maps called personality or “what I do in life for a living”
This .map manipulation is playing with the phase space
mechanics of mind: thought is based on use of phase code of “basic” mindthat
is reached in meditation!
Holomind competition is the source of evolution where holomind extends to the entire ecology when it is linked with the cosmos! Thus Darwin was a pioneer without all the structures to understand that survival of the fittest is structured within system connections of holomind consciousness.
The Sun sign is the place of supervision by others where it is the self standing apart from the center and looking towards goal / Sun directed “doings”! when one goes within to their center they look outward to see the earth in the opposite position and become self organizing. Thus when centering or enlightenment takes place, one becomes self organizing and self reliant. Thus rejecting outside supervision or control!
Recombination as a process of development and adaption – experimentation. “That is [w?]this” comes from “what is this”. So often language uses recombination labeled as error!
Fate – Karma is a recombinant process of actions and skills that are segments like genes!!!! Thus I could produce a recombinant genetic algorithm program that used segments of behavior like Tarot cards to produce drama or soap operas! Mindonly! The focus on skills development in human or animal behavior uses the same process developed in sexual reproduction! So what are the key behavior segments connected to the cosmos?
These segments are in holomind phase space and the connections are the same as the fuzzy phase space of the I Ching!
No wonder we are so enthralled with drama and comedy! It reveals holomind in the next phase space!
Language is in the time domain! The “thoughts” and other language process is sequential based on states that are like crossing a cause – effect boundary.
Procedures [pro-ceed or go forward] and process [deal with in action realm] are in the time realm and are thus “spiritual” structures!
3D procedural logic of ape brain produces fuzzy logic in 2D world!
For instance, pride and vanity are single concept objects within a 2D logic of “good – bad” instead of within 3D system context of “self confidence” and connecting with others as sharing parts where vanity disappears because there is no self. 2D logic treats behavior as concept object to be rejected or accepted instead of as part of a skill level of development connected to a reality of being human. System reality is the totality of parts necessary to be alive shared with all humans in a collection of procedures as specialties or “work”. Thus all human activities as a multidimensional system are needed to keep every single human alive. This is now being pointed out by media programs like “Survivor”!
Vanity
Question: if culture is not biological, is love? The biology of love is based on interdependence made available to all be the evolution of the immense space in the neocortex for many divisions and subdivisions of labor – work – tasks. No human does all the tasks necessary for survival as is done in the animal kingdom. Humans can do a few life tasks and trust that others will fill in the spaces: thus love refers to this interdependence and trust except for reproductive and family structure “love”. Yet this family – tribal structure has been extended to “culture or civilization”.
There are many approaches to accessing the neocortex, not just religion or science. enlightenment is accessible to all, not just Buddhist. So their take on how to proceed is not the only way as many enlightened Buddhists have pointed out. Communism is another way to approach “God as Love” of interdependence!
What is cultural mind contrasted with ego and holomind!
Cultural mind is a level of operation like windows where ego is a program opened in a window and holomind is like the Bios and machine code of the CPU: in humans it is like RISC that can load multiple machine codes. The program code of cultural mind is handled by NLP and is like the top menus of a window that can change the response or look of a program and of windows.
The dna writes holomind as bioholography in the time > process procedure field at levels of resolution. These codes are transferred to each level of holomind and become the source used to connect with the cosmos. Thus the phase positions do not determine mental and social attitudes, but the opposite way: the DNA uses them as replicas of themselves where the bioholomind is the source of procedures mapped onto the cosmos that in tern are used as the basis of social holomind like ego and selection of social status and work and other interdependencies of the fractal structure of culture where each individual is a single “bump or triangle” in a Koch “Star of David” or Cantor “I Ching”.
I do not use modern science as references: they have the life of an infant. I use traditional structures like the chakras and I Ching or Tarot which have worked for thousands of years. Thus science can supply the new language to understand these structures. Stable and Fuzzy – Transition states in a phase state space of automata [CA] that overlayer each other to produce bioholomind where the successor level overlaps the previous level as found in electron shells. Thus the first levels overlap the structuring of matter and molecules. These layers of the fractal I Ching also produce the Chakras where the petals are the stable phase structure. Thus the layer of 5 dimensions produces the Qabala: 10 petals and 22 fuzzy states of the power chakra. The 6th layer the heart chakra explored in the I Ching or 12 petals and 26+26 [letters] of the heart chakra. The 7th layer is seldom explored. The 10th layer is the 1,000 petaled Lotus of the neocortex. So the I Ching only explored 2 layers. These layers of consciousness in holomind are represented by harmony – melody – rhythm in music or grammar – semantics / meaning and purpose in language based on the phase space of alphabets.
The words of science are infant because they act like all word structures: the word is God, meaning it has the same effect as DNA and we must see if it is synergetic with DNA and holomind which takes generations. Actually the Uranus Neptune pair of coherences: 168 years to produce The Cross!
Openness: being open to others but also open to connecting from our DNA center! To connect with the “Word” from center as did the early followers of Jesus: to understand that what we read does connect if we “desire” to learn. Maybe that desire and attachment has to do with this inner center and if so with suffering? Thus the original Buddhist position resulted in contradiction because of loss of “genuine” / authentic root connection: head trips. This head trip may refer to the neocortex allowing self-organization. Thus the central DNA connection with animals and their extensions with human interdependency are structures that have not been explored as part of holomind.
So such words as “genuine”, “authentic”, “actual”, “sincere”, “honest”, “open”, “valid”, may refer to this connection with DNA!
The “higher” levels of consciousness, in the layered holomind, are more expanded: as each layer of the I Ching has double the states of the previous level [chakra]. Thus moving to source phase spaces that produce holomind [stacked holograms] with reduced phase code is a reductionist process that is a forgetful functor! So these are not quite “Dimensions” because each level contains a number of “Dimensions” that do not move to the next level. Also each “state” is a dimensional arrangement for any “object”: thus the electron shells are not dimensions, but seem to be in 3 dimensions because that is the most reduced number with which they can be described. Now quantum theory talks about 11 or 26 or “what” number of dimensions. If we look at this as “dimensions” of time where any “vector” can be stable or active as in electrodynamics. We can call them transitions in a process / time realm.
Thus reductionist science looks for descriptions in source levels and describes successor levels as “chaos”!
The “unconscious” as a description refers to the forgetful functor aspect / action of a source level which has fewer states and is then called “lower” by one bias or transcendental by others!
Thus each level is consciousness and physical and spirit as holomind coherence [one example of which is described as connection / consciousness with DNA] that lines up with other levels as “observation” in the same way melody lines up with and thus observes rhythm and its coherence as time signature. This is also a model of the time realm within the successor realm: space[?].
After the emergence of the level of consciousness that connects with the cosmos and my subsequent investigation of the traditional literature that is the pioneer descriptions / observations of this level called “Astrology”, I was open to connect with new observations. The first of which was general systems theory, levels of resolution and CA. next came the holographic paradigm by finding Pribrum’s book around 1970 and next was fractals in 1976. But it was not until the 90s that I discarded their reductionist view at a very forgetful level that did not include the obvious models of music and time and others.
So this stuff explains why conjunctions of cosmic pairs is so important: one level is lined up with another and has the observation “built-in”: just as the melody is observing – conscious of the rhythm. So no wonder the composers – artists that have become so “classical” have this in their charts!
Thus there must be a pair for consciousness to be “transcendental” and synergetic or it becomes an subject – object observation which produces a forgetful functor in the source state or chaotic in the larger successor state! Thus the first descriptions of fractals turned into chaos descriptions and holographic stuff was used to mis-Understand memory and a non-local spatial universe instead of process and time.
Thus my holomind structure is isolative / separative [good for data, bad for social relationships] not synergetic / con-Fusion, so my enlightenment was a jump to a synergetic state as a rebirth of my social – intellect ego [and much more].
In Iona’s writings I am encountering many immediate synergies: especially in the bliss of synergy of such a large area of human writings that now show a direct connection with the coherence of DNA holomind level!
The traditional method of accessing the synergy of multiple conscious levels of holomind has been thru so-called altered states of consciousness, which I propose is not a rational everyday stream of consciousness experience. I propose that that is because these other source or successor states [which are not really “Altered”] are not connected – synergized with ordinary consciousness: they contain many contradictory – complementary – reductionist observations –descriptions that do not allow synergy to happen: the easy and simple. Thus I want to focus on observations that allow a direct connection and flow in ordinary consciousness: as stated by my colleagues “everyday mind is nirvana”!
“What physics has found is actually a unified interaction of material shadows; it discovered that various physical particulars are interrelated processes--but interrelated shadows aren't the Light.” No, not the light of coherence but the phase code itself! This “light” can only be viewed as coherent “light” source from the successor level that uses it as its “light”! As stacked holograms of holomind.
The American government is like windows to load “programs” like States, organizations, schools, religions and corporations in an equal way!
The evolution of education can be seen as emerging from families with the necessity of understanding hunting – gathering. A special learning ceremony took place when the “boy” became a self reliant “man” by going off into the hunting “grounds” alone and staying there until the inner voice of self emerged: they became self reliant. This experience of self realization was similar to what is described as “enlightenment” in modern society that comes to only a few because “learning to be defined by culture” has taken over the self realization of “what it is to be human”!
Then with the beginning of agriculture there emerged the need to understand discipline: how discipline involves internalizing rules and maps of external structures that came to be called culture. This means that the individual had to respond to others on their terms: to learn their vocabulary and meaning of who they are. Out of this emerged religion: at first being defined by an external “reality [God] that had created everything and was thus responsible for everything. Thus humans needed to “learn” to bow-down and worship a “higher-power”. This was not easy considering the hundreds of thousands of years of the self-reliant hunter.
Thus it was not the duty of the teacher or school to allow the student to engage in self discovery or to “find himself” but to “make” the student learn by the schools rules and within the cultural language: what is the meaning of words the same for everyone. Thus individual meaning and self-organization was not encouraged. It was put to the side as “Arts” and “music” as subjective in contrast to objective science and business. The history of western music is a perfect model of this. First cultural musical sounds within the church emerged from behind and above the people as if it is beyond their understanding and judgment: it was not “composed” by any individual. Then the music moved in front of the people onto a stage and was performed by a group of musicians many of whom played the same notes together in a section. They had to follow the “rules” of a conductor who stood above them, and the played a piece created by a composer who was not physically there. Thus this “program” could be performed in any “concert hall” at any time just as a modern computer’s windows can load a “program”!
A new understanding of schools and learning is emerging from this understanding of self reliance in the modern culture that is spreading around the world that first emerged in the arts: especially the music of Jazz, Rock, and now Hip-Hop. The music of Jazz emerges from an inner source of self reliance / realization in the here-and-now moment and the listeners relate to it in a personal way by their own creative body movement. The self organizing mind and the cultural mind work together! This same structure is beginning to emerge in the cultural institutions of schools: it is no longer only the students responsibility to understand and follow the teacher –conductor, but the teacher must now meet the student and connect with their individual viewpoint. This is part of the scientific method: to allow any truth to be tested or understood from all viewpoints. This the material to be taught must be made accessible to all humans as: what does / can this “knowledge / material / procedure” mean to me. How do I internalize this material in my self organizing neural nets? Humans no longer operate in the same forest or on the same hunting ground, but we still need a single cultural “operating system” that can run all programs!
The previous cultural mind will not accept this and cannot understand it: it is as if the orchestra members of the string sections started to improvise! It doesn’t fit! So it takes those who have had an experience of self reliance in the area of education, not academics who study the old system from a single viewpoint as was done in religions.
Is all the interdependence of Western Culture like the Borg? The common public schools may be seen as installing the “mental machinery” as “implants” that allow external supervision. We imagine that we are independent and free, but only within the interdependent structure that is the machinery of business and work. There is no more “wild wild West”: it has been projected onto sports and “Arts”.
The cultural difference between Buddhist Asia that is different from Japan and the West: the focus and ideal of Buddhism is self reliance. Thus people are more separate and individual and resent other "group mind" cultures. You see failure and difficulty in adjusting to "the modern world" which is really a part of their culture that does not want to depend on others as much as we do. Thus people want to be in charge - in command of more of their lives: to not trust others to do things for them that they can do for themselves.
My approach to traditional structures removes old games based on old language that has survived because it refers to real structures that are part of being human, to will continue to exist no matter what they are called. There is no longer a game of who is the best “spiritual Hero” that can vicariously remove our problems or relate to higher powers on our behalf, or teach us how to do something that is already available for immediate access. This teaching implies that we must install some cultural structure or agree to some contract before we can access our powers of being human that we are born with. Actually, since the brain has not completed its development at the time of birth, humans are not able to access these inner structures until some later time after birth. These old structures are presented as if we must try very hard to become “enlightened” or “saved”, when in fact it is modeled more correctly by the idea of “grace” and immediate self realization. In fact the process involves the “cessation” of trying and effort: it is the acceptance of what is already present. Might it be that early childhood involves the animal mid-brain which uses procedures and behaviors of early mammal evolution because the human brain has not finished development? This may be the model of spiritual development as from a higher power or beyond our understanding. The modern scientific culture understands ideas that are beyond ordinary consciousness and “normal everyday” experience. For instance the result of everyday experience is that the Sun moves around the earth, but modern science has opened us up to a truth beyond everyday experience, and it can do the same with the old traditions, which have been seen from ancient times as beyond ordinary everyday mind. Although true, this has lead or focused our mind in the direction of “effort” instead of seeing that everyday mind is already focused on effort and “doing” which is what humans can let go of.
Thus humans can approach rule based process and procedures from an open creative perspective. This is the same openness referred to in TORI.
My thoughts are monitored viewed by holomind as many views: thus what I access for consciousness is a hologram – complete information from a phase layer. For example: if I have negative thoughts about being a musician or relations with women, my usual response is “looking – viewing down or being depressed”, so I try to repress these thoughts. Now I understand that I can thank myself for reminding me of this situation and progress – move on to acknowledging my holomind view of being in distress or suffering. Then I open myself to the complete holomind of all viewpoints and of all paths: 8 fold mind, more or less! Thus I let go of suffering and attachment to suffering to see or be conscious of solution as the many views – paths of holomind. Path is another word for process and procedure. Thus the ordinary translation of “path” as discipline and correct conduct is again within the position of attachment, not freedom of all views of holomind!
Thus “complete access” is the holomind as well as “God is Love” and interdependence”! These are all representations of the many views that become multidimensional layers – strata of each preceding layer by making each phase of the source strata a coherent source for the next dimensional layer. Thus our emotions appear as if part of or a single phase of a set of 12 maps of ego, instead of being a holomind complete map that includes all 12 phases. Thus one can operate from holomind of all views – abilities instead of a single “ego” view: one moves above the flat dimension to a higher dimension: amazement or above the maze!
So the solution is not to spend great effort to “perfect” a single way – path – process, but to emerge into the complete ecology of all ways into the easy and simple of the “Tao”! So the correct translation or “Tao” is many ways! The “one mindedness” is really using all minds: holomind and complete access to complete and all views.
Thus restriction and rules are about discipline that is a single path which rejects and excludes others: which in reality is exclusion of holomind of self. This was explored in general systems of family and many parts developing in modern psychology. It was foreseen by Gurdjieff!
So letting go and accepting or acknowledging my pain – suffering allows holomind to move above the all encompassing suffering: the whole mind is filled with a single phase – aspect of life – sorrow – grief – shame. All I can think of and experience is suffering and thoughts of who hurt me, and trying to forget. There is also the shame of allowing this to “bother” me. After acknowledgement that I am suffering, I can let go of the immersion in this emotion and return to peace where that part of my life has become again only a part: one viewpoint among many: the Sun transformed into Christmas tree lights holds. My life is multifaceted: good and bad, pleasure and pain! This is holomind: many notes of a melody, not just a single scream!
Thus I do not “identify” or see myself as being full of shame, much less “Toxic Shame”, so I pass up application of the skills presented by Bradshaw and others. But when I view it from suffering and lost concentration, I can access and utilize these new skills – ways of becoming whole. Of extinguishing the fire of emotion. I can synergize these approaches that seemed different!
Culture imposes rules and reward – punishment on self organizing mind: the result is the more the rules are followed and self organizing is disregarded, the more one acts as supervisor of others and has self defeating actions. This means humans try to defeat their own creative mind! This is named “control”! Humans follow rules in expectation of rewards or avoidance of punishment: but self organizing tasks are their own reward! Thus creativity and improvisation from within is a self connection: self made real or self realization!!
Pairs as in the Cross and Star write a composite holomind of two directions within an individual: group as in family or community – cultural and for the individual action. Thus Jupiter would be individual action and Saturn the family community with real connections to the parents and other generations. Thus energy connections relate to all of this, not just to an individual “self”! Thus Neptune relates to civilization: all humans, and Uranus to an individual within a group? Venus relates to the 12 meridians? This is a new paradigm about being human. Thus the AA give my life to a higher power is connecting to this group mind within! The psychological “super-ego” then has some validity as first glimpse! The older view of single objects and selves is finally understood within a general system. The “subconscious” is thus related to Venus Mercury and Moon also as pairs!
So it is not man and God as separate or together, but simultaneity. Is that what Jung was going for? Is it part of his thinking with archetypes?
